ALS and Cannabis
ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) is a neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. Muscle control is decreased due to damage to motor neurons, which stop sending messages to muscles. Recent studies suggest a one-to-one ratio of THC to CBD works well at targeting the receptors in your body. One recent study conducted with mice showed that THC helps with tremors and CBN helps slow disease progress. A survey of patients with ALS reported the combination of THC with CBD alleviated spasticity as well as appetite, pain, depression and drooling. Cannabis also has neuroprotective properties.
As always, check with your healthcare professional before starting a new supplement regimen.
